Weekly Worship in the Benefice
Our services are gradually returning to more normal patterns. A weekly email is sent out with up-to-date details. You can register to receive this email with the church office.
We are finding many people are – understandably – very stressed at this time, and many are thinking about spirituality, contemplation and life’s biggest challenges. If you are not familiar with, or used to church, then please know that you would be very welcome to join us for any of the services or discussions..
August 2021 – here is how you can join us in worship, reflection and contemplation:
St George’s holds two services of public worship each Sunday:
8.00am – said Holy Communion
9.30am – Parish Communion, including singing of hymns. Children’s groups meet during this service during term time.
St John’s holds a service of public worship at 10am each Sunday.
Online Sunday service
Our recorded Benefice services are taking a break during August, but online services are available each Sunday via the Diocese of Oxford’s ‘Church At Home’ web pages. Click here to access.
A mid-week contemplative service on Zoom. Usually lasting 30 minutes. Simply turn up and dwell. (Zoom details from the office).
Morning Prayer takes place at 8.50am on Wednesday via Zoom and on Thursday in St George’s Church and via Zoom. Details of the Zoom link are available from the office.
At certain parts of the year we host discussions on many topics. Details will link from here.
Open Church for Personal Prayer
St George’s Church is open for individual prayer and contemplation on Tuesday – Thursday each week from 10am – 2pm.
St John’s Church is open for Space to Be on Wednesday 11am to 1pm, a combination of friendly catch-up and silent prayer – including Midday Prayers. Tea and Coffee is being served now.
