Food Banks need help more than ever

Supporting the Food Banks

With church buildings closed you might be wondering how you can continue to support the Food Bank, so here is the latest advice…

West Berks Food Bank urgently needs food items donated and the best way to do this is through the collection points in supermarkets and at Sainsbury Local and the Co-op in Wash Common. Please be aware that Tesco are keeping the bin out of sight to stop people helping themselves. The staff are happy to take your donations.

EXTRA COLLECTION POINT – There is a collection box in the cloister area outside St George’s Church, which is emptied regularly during the day. Please drop off any donations as you are passing.

Please note: during August, the St George’s collection point is open Tuesday – Saturday, from 9.30am – 2.30pm.

There is always an up-to-date list of the items most needed on the Foodbank app. The following list is updated regularly.

4 August 2020 – There is an urgent need for:

  • custard
  • rice pudding
  • sponge puddings
  • sugar
  • deodorant
  • tinned fruit
  • toothpaste
  • meat meals in cans (stew, chilli, etc)

Stocks are low for:

  • toothbrushes
  • instant mash
  • tinned potatoes
  • chilli mix
  • cup-a-soup

Rather than taking food – you can donate money to the foodBank here; DONATE
