Benefice celebration weekend

To mark the addition of St Michael and All Angels Church, Enborne joining the South Newbury Benefice of St George, Wash Common and St John, Newbury, a weekend of celebrations is taking place between 27th – 29th September (which falls on the feast day of St Michael & All Angel’s).

Events are shown here and more details will follow:

Friday 27th – Sunday 29th: Flower Festival at St Michael’s Church. Around 20 displays will fill the beautiful church, created by members of all three churches. Drop in any time.

Saturday 28th: Songs of Ascent mini pilgrimage from St John’s and St George’s to St Michael’s. Departing 9am, returning by 1pm. More details from the church office on 01635 41249.

Saturday 28th: Wash Common Community Festival. The benefice will have a stand with people available to explain what the addition of St Michael’s will mean for the local communities.

Sunday 29th: Benefice Celebration Service 10am at St John’s. A single service for all three churches will celebrate the new benefice and combine elements of worship from each.

Sunday 29th: Benefice lunch from 11.30am – 2.30pm at St George’s. Following the service at St John’s a quick trip up the hill will bring everyone together for a celebratory lunch with BBQ provided by Newbury Sea Cadets and musical entertainment from Incantata.

Sunday 29th: Evening choral evensong service 6pm at St Michael’s. The weekend culminates with a choral evensong service to mark the Festival of St Michael and All Angels and round off the weekend with joy.
