Shrove Tuesday pancakes in South Newbury

Both St George’s and St John’s Churches hosted pancake parties on Shrove Tuesday where many came along to enjoy a pancake or two. There were even pancake races for the children (and Fr Gary) at St John’s.

After pancakes, last year’s palm crosses were burned to make ash for the Ash Wednesday services that marked the start of Lent the next day.
